This week marks 25 years since a large-scale reunion was held for alumni who attended Acton District High School from 1954 to 1977 when it was once located on Acton Blvd (present-day McKenzie-Smith Bennett Public School).

Today was Decoration Day, June 1st, at Fairview Cemetery. Members and the Ladies Auxiliary of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 197 Acton placed Canadian Flags at the graves of veterans and LA members, such as the site of the Coles grave site.

On this day 80 years ago, May 8th, 1945, marked Victory in Europe Day (V-E Day) which saw the fall of Nazi Germany, signifying the end of the Second World War in Europe.
