Today was Decoration Day, June 1st, at Fairview Cemetery. Members and the Ladies Auxiliary of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 197 Acton placed Canadian Flags at the graves of veterans and LA members, such as the site of the Coles grave site.

Sgt Wilfred Coles (1881-1967) served in the Boer War, emigrated to Canada from England in 1904, served in World War One and worked in the Navy League, War Service League, Red Cross and with the Legion and Boys Scouts. For his efforts, in 1944, Coles was awarded the Canadian Efficiency Medal and First Clasp.

Coles' wife Alice (1888 - 1978) was the first President of the Legion's Ladies Auxiliary in 1945.

Their son, Ernest Coles, served in World War II.

Also buried with her parents at this site is Jessie Coles (1919 - 2022). Jessie was greatly involved in the community having been a member of the Acton Baptist Church, Curling Club, Tennis Club and was an Akela of the Acton Cub Scouts.
